The Association’s Industrial Division began when many of our Marine members found work ashore and wanted to enhance their work environment and collective interests by continuing with their relationship with the Association.

Over the years we have developed over 15 Collective Agreements in many industries including Power Generation, Dairy and Meat Sectors, Cement, Fertiliser, Local Authorities and the Water Industry.

AMEA members are Shift Engineers. We are now also representing middle management and support staff in the dairy industry and Electricans whose role is to maintain and monitor around the clock major industrial plants in these many industries. They are generally self managed and taking responsibility for millions of dollars of plant and equipment.
Qualifications, training, professionalism and safety and health in the workplace are to the front of our collective bargaining agenda.

As is the case with a majority of AMEA members, 24 hour 7 day shift working is the norm and achieving a decent work / life balance is as important to them as is the reasonable remuneration to which they are entitled.
