Jacqui Roberts –  LLB, BCOM, BA - National SecretaryJacqui Roberts

Jacqui was elected National Secretary in August 2010, and became the AMEA’s first female National Secretary. She joined the AMEA in 1992 part-time while at university completing Law, Commerce and Arts degrees. Jacqui initially carried out day to day accounting work, annual financial accounts for audit, training for delegates and project based work.

Since becoming an organiser in 1998, she has negotiated new collective agreements, provided internal legal guidance and been involved in many successful legal challenges on behalf of the AMEA. Jacqui focuses on what benefits you and other members rather than internal policies and political agendas.

While having an overall focus and accountability on the operation of the Association, Jacqui maintains a hands-on approach organising members at Air New Zealand and lending a hand where required.

Under Jacqui’s leadership, High Performance Engagement (HPE) was introduced at Air New Zealand and endorsed by the AMEA. She signed the HPE Charter on behalf of the AMEA. Jacqui is a founding member of the Air New Zealand High Performance Engagement Leadership Team, HPE Working Group, and many other Steering Groups.

 

Steve Westoby - National Industrial OrganiserSteve Westoby

Steve is a qualified Aircraft Engineer, who worked at Air New Zealand for 17 years. After a restructure in 2006 he moved from a union delegate to that of a union organiser with E tū.

Steve has over 12 years’ experience as an Organiser/Lead Organiser in manufacturing and associated trade industries.   He also has completed extramural study in Arbitration and Mediation.

Steve is primarily responsible for the Marine Division and North Island sites in the Industrial Division. He is also responsible for looking after our members in Air New Zealand Gas Turbines.

 

Penny Mahoni - National Industrial OrganiserPenny Mahoni

Penny trained as a teacher and has owned her own businesses. Prior to joining the AMEA, Penny was employed by Air New Zealand for 11 years in a range of roles, including a Team Manager at Auckland International for 4 years.  Penny was instrumental in the initiation of the CEA for the Team Manager group in 2008. Penny continues to administer the Team Manager Collective Agreement and looks after many other Collective agreements at Air New Zealand.

Penny is a founding member of the Air New Zealand High Performance Engagement Leadership Team, HPE Working Group, and many other Steering Groups.

 

Bob Brough - National Industrial OrganiserBob Brough

Bob is based in Christchurch and is responsible for South Island membership. He has over 30 years’ experience as a Union Official including 13 years as an organiser at the NDU (now FIRST union) based in Christchurch.

Previous positions include Christchurch Secretary and National Vice President POU, Branch Secretary CEWU, Industrial Officer EPMU. Bob trained as a telecommunications Technical Officer with the Post Office /Telecom and is a Registered Electrical Service Technician (ESTB).

 

Suzanne Bovaird

Suzanne is the newest member of the AMEA team. Suzanne is based in our Christchurch office. She is employed on a part-time basis to maintain the AMEA membership database, carry out the day to day accounting work and annual financial accounts for audit. Suzanne is also your initial point of contact regarding membership or delegate queries.
